Et netera Creates Portal to Rate Doctors and Healthcare Facilities: toplekar.cz

There are about 45,000 physicians and 28,000 healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic and the general public up to now did not have a tool that would help make choices among all the possibilities. Because of the specific conditions under which specialists work, it is impossible to set objective standards. Therefore, a recommendation from someone we can trust is paramount to making decisions. The authors of the project, WIDEFIELD a.s., took these factors into account and decided to offer the public a registry of doctors where physicians rate each other. “We believe that just like in other fields, professionals know about each others’ qualities, especially within their own specializations,” said the project’s author Jaroslav Klapal from WIDEFIELD.

The idea was supported by several leading Czech experts who became partners of the project. “When a doctor is sick, he/she primarily turns to a colleague that they know well and trust to provide the best care,” said Tomáš Zima, dean of Charles University’s First Faculty of Medicine. “Honestly, if you’re not able to evaluate your colleague, who is going to believe in the quality of your own work,” said Professor Karel Cvachovec, head of the anaesthesiological clinic at the Motol teaching Hospital.

The portal was built and is administered by Et netera a.s. using the CMS system jNetPublish. “We chose Et netera because they were able to guarantee fulfilling the task in the demanding timeline while offering a robust system for consolidating and administering data that will continue to meet our demands into the future,” said Jaroslav Klapal.
The project took place in two phases in a relatively short amount of time. “Over a month and a half, we first launched the initial portal where doctors could register and recommend trustworthy colleagues. The physicians were gradually contacted using the direct mail system MailOne and about 30,000 doctors received a login name and password to the system. In the second phase over the next two months, we prepared the public part of the portal, including the structure and tools for the public to rate physicians and healthcare facilities,” said Zbyněk Hraše, Et netera a.s. project manager.
